Hi folks. It’s with a heavy heart that I announce our first and hopefully our last loss of the season. This was a hard loss, and a hard fought game for both teams. The score was 0 – 6 and it wasn’t until after the game ended that I realized that the only touchdown in the game was questionable.
On the 1 touchdown they scored my kid let up on them, after the game his dad explained that he believed that the kid ran out of bounds and some of the parents believed the same thing on that play but the refs never called it. That was the winning touchdown, the only touchdown of the game.
For reasons unknown the officials couldn’t paint the field that morning so the lines wasn’t clear. This loss kills me because they got that touchdown by both luck and by the skin of their teeth.
This game was all defense and both teams answered the call. I honestly can’t complain, and after reflecting over the entire game I find myself, for the first time not knowing what I could have done differently on offense. I’ve drawn up new plays, and we’ll see how those work.
Most of the kids blamed the loss on the cold weather, one of the parents voiced that I put too much pressure on the kids. I believe that it might have been a combination of both. I can’t do nothing about nature, but from now on I’m gonna do my best not to hype any game. From here on all the games are important and we must play hard in each game to win.
We were the top of the mountain for the Redskins, the rest of their games are against winnable teams. As for us, the rest of the season is winnable too, but if we sleep on the remaining teams we could face another loss.
In this league ending the season on top is just for bragging rights. Everyone goes to the playoffs regardless of if you win every game or lose every game unless you’re in the 8th or 9th spot. This season the 1st place team doesn’t get a by in the playoffs. The 9th and 8th team will fight for a playoff spot, all I know is that we won’t be in 8th or 9th.
This was a hard loss, but we must move on. I hope we meet them in the playoffs, but now I must direct my attention to the next team. After the game I had to take my 12 year old to his game on another field. The same field where the Eagles played and their head coach made it a goal to introduce himself to me. Little does he know that next week he’s in for a fight, because as I told my boys, we are still the team to be feared. Until next time, see ya.
