winds of change

June 2006
nba draft 2006

It's coming down to the wire and as a team, we have a lot to be excited and nervous about.

For the past two weeks I have broadcasted to everyone in the league that this season's chaipionship belongs to the 49ers and we are now approaching that time where we will need to either put up or shut up.

Some of you might be asking "why would you make such a claim?" Some people have even said to me, "But Mike, your team is 3-3, how can you make such a statement?" The reason why I can say that is because I believe in our team. It's just that simple.

I have spent some time studying how our playoffs will go and right now it looks like we will be facing the Titans in the wild cards, after that we will face the number 3 team which will be either the Lions, the Jets or the Broncos depending on what happens next week.

Currently the Steelers are still undefeated with a 6-0 record while the Lions and Jets are tied in 2nd place with 5-1 records each. The Lions should win their next game bringing them to a 6-1 season, but with that win they will not know for sure if they will be 2nd or 3rd because that will be determined by the outcome of the Steelers vs Jets game on that same day.

If the Jets beat the Steelers then the Jets will be #1 placing the Steelers at 2nd and Lions at 3rd. Now if the Steelers win then that will keep them at 1st, the Lion will more then likely stay at 2nd and depending on the outcome of the Broncos vs Bills game (More then likely the Bronco will win) the Jets could find themselves seeded at 4th place to end the season. So right now the Jets have a lot riding on this next game.

I saw the Jets play the Vikings and the Jets are looking real good. Their QB is dangerous on both offense and defense, as a team they play fast, motivated and focused. They would not be an easy team to beat, but it can be done. Their coach has done a great job with them and I truly believe that the Jets can beat the Steelers next week. That is how good they are.

Because of Turkey day, there is no practice or games this week. Hopefully I can get together with the other two coaches at least once during the break so we can get a strategy together on how we will get to the Championships and win. I'm not too concerned about our next game, but the Jets will not be an easy team to beat, neither is the Broncos nor the Lions. If we had to choose who to go up against, I'd more then likely pick the Lions because we played them already and are confident that we can beat them next time around.

When we come back from the break, the theme will be: No Play + Hard Work = Championship. Kids who do not come to practice will not start, and those who take practice lightly will find that their playing time will be just as light. Next week we return to business as usual, and we will do what we can to win it all! Until next time, see ya!
