winds of change

nba draft 2006

Well with one week of practice under our belts, I had a great chance to see what the Eagles have to offer this season. I must say that they gave me a real good problem of figuring out what position everyone will play.

This is truly going to be an exciting season and although we have the potential to go all the way and win it all, it is truly going to take some hard work and dedication from the kids, parents along with my assistant coach and me. This will be a tall feet to reach because some of the kids have already shown that they do not have the aptitude for such concentration. It will be a real challenge to balance hard work and fun this season but I must find a way to get it done.

One kid on the team has proven to be a real challenge because it is very clear that he has a great arm as a QB, arguably could be our best receiver, and has a proven track record of being an interception machine. How do you place a kid with such talents? I truly do not believe in having one kid out on the field the whole entire game because he will get burned out sooner or later, and it would not be fair to all the other kids. After our last practice my assistant coach and I talked about this problem and he suggested that we have them all play both offense and defense. I kind of scuffed at that idea at first, but the more I think about it the more it is starting to make sense for this team. I will give that a try this week and see what happens.

I discovered that I also have a new challenge this season as my arch nemesis coach Parker is in charge of the schedules this season. I’m curious to see what he has in store for us, as the smack talk has been bigger then ever for this season. I think that is because he is about to get married and this could be his last season of coaching for awhile, so it could be a long time before I get another chance to beat him which is why this season must be it!

Last week was about learning what position would best fit each player and after much tossing and turning I believe that I’ve found the best fit for everyone. This week we start to mold a championship team. From now until the season starts, I will carefully be watching how everyone responds to their positions and make adjustments when or if need too. Until next Monday love, peace, and a lot of hair grease!

Thanks for offering Moe, but I already have an assistant.  If you'd like I can set you up with your own team.  How does that sound?
