When Dwight Howard first can into the NBA there was a lot of comparisons between him and Shaq. Today you do not hear people comparing anymore because Dwight is exceeding what Shaq was doing in his prime.
This past weekend Dwight recorded his forth 30+ points and 20+ rebounds game, he’s won a gold medal, won the slam dunk contest, already recorded his 1st triple double, and this year he is cruising towards defensive player of the year and possibly MVP.
Each year he has improved from the year before and this year is no exception as he is developing a Tim Duncan like shot around the basket. The Magic has done all the right moves by placing shooters all around him and he is learning the importance of finding the open man. What can opposing teams do against the Magic when he is on his game? If you double-team him he will find the open man, if you don’t double-team him, he can’t be stopped.
Right now there is no center or power forward in the NBA that can match up to Dwight’s strength, speed, and over all athleticism. The only weapon that opposing teams have this season, is prayer and hopes of the Magic having a bad night, but as far as Dwight Howard goes; This is the season that he will step out of the shadows of Shaq.
