winds of change

nba draft 2006

Hi Everyone! Last week I made an error. I said that we were facing the Redskins but that was not the case. This week we faced the Bucs and we lost 0 – 12.

A loss is a loss but it’s a far better result that last time (6 – 60+). So now we, the Dolphins are 1 – 5 for the season; my first official losing season ever. :(

Let me start off with the bad.

This week I ran the offense because my assistant coach is out of town on business. This experience gave me a chance to see a strange phenomenon which coasted us this game. Tuesday night was our heavy scrimmage night to prepare for the game the following night.

On Tuesday night the offense ran the plays to near perfection, I was proud as proud can be. During warm ups they showed no signs of failure; we marched into that game with confidence. We should have at least scored once but for some reason the receivers forgot how to run their routes correctly. For the life of me I could not figure out why this was happening. They didn’t run their routes correctly and they were not blocking as we practiced so perfectly the night before.

Not all of the offense was bad though which leads me to the good news.

The offense was not completely shot. Two of the kids ran their routs correctly for the most part and this week the QBs showed much improvement.

Only one interception in the game and only one time did the ball drop at a hand off. Both times it was not the QB’s fault. The QB’s did an overall very good job so I cannot fault them for this one.

The defense has solidified themselves as the strength of this team. We are the only team to have intercepted the ball on the Bucs and we are the team that they have scored the lowest on. I cannot be more proud of the defense.

As long as we are moving towards improvement with each game I cannot complain too much about this loss because there were improvements. The defense is solid and the QBs have made much improvement. All we have to do now it get the receivers up to par and no one will be able to beat us.

I know that last statement sounds as if my head is in the clouds but you’ve got to understand; tonight we faced the best this league has to offer and we gave them a scare! At half time they were up only 6 – 0. We are the only team to have been able to accomplish that feet!

We have yet to lose a game because the other team is just that good. Every defeat we’ve faced thus far has come at the hands of the Dolphins. We are our own worst enemy and after the game tonight the Bucs’ coach verified that when he told me, “If your offense didn’t make so many mistakes we would have lost.” What he said was exactly what I saw.

There is no need for us to go back to the drawing board because we have a set of good plays. I just need to find a way to get the offense to execute them perfectly so we can win some game. Until next time, see ya!
