another october with out the yankees

July 2006
the 2006 wsop

Welcome to October, honestly in my opinion, the best time of the year for sports fans, and another October with out the Yankess.

This will mark the sixth year with out the Yankees playing in the World Series. Its almost something that I've become use to over the years. With the blow up that happend in '04, losing 4 stright to Boston in the ALCS and losing to the Florida Marlins. It seems that Steinbrenner is looking for scape goat and that scape goat could possibably be Joe Torre.

After his 200 million roster can't get the job done, insted of looking to make trades that fill the gaps in the defense, he wants to stock his batting order and honestly, I feel the weak link in his roster is A Rod.

If you look at Rodriguez's batting stats for this year, he had an average of .290, he was at bat 572 times, and he hit 166 times. Thats a hit every 3.4 times at bat, he struck out 139 times, thats every 4.1 times at bat. His strike out total this year tied with his 2005 season.

Now look at his post season stats. This year he had a .071 average, stuck out 4 times and had only one hit.

After the past two years, he honsetly isn't worth his sallary. Brian Cashman should work and try and get the no trade clause dropped and make a trade that is good for the team. No team right now in baseball can not afford that contract. From the start of the 07 season to the 2010 season A-Rod is on track to make $27 million a year and that comes to a total of 81 million over 3 years. A man who only hits .071 in the post season, when everyone in sports had that team on slate to win the series that year, and Stienbrenner thinks that Torre is the reason?

Torre won you the ring a total of 4 times *'96, '98-'00*, he has a record of 1079-699, has never missed a playoff since he started there, and NINE stright NL East Titles.

In baseball right now, there is no other manager that has the numbers that Torre has and your willing to let that go for Lou Piniella? The man who coulden't turn around the Tampa Bay Devil Rays?

If Torre is firned, I hope Stienbrenner and Cashman are willing to deal with the blood on their hands of killing a dynasty.
